About the Event
This is going to be a blast. There will be a few organized events, including the catered welcome and good-bye dinners, a golf outing, and a sunrise horsback ride. The times, costs and other details for these events will be on this site before May of 2003. Primarily, though, families will be free to schedule their own time and activities during the majority of the week. Spend time with your family, or hook up with others to take advantage of hundreds of activities both inside the YMCA's facility, or within a few miles in Estes Park and Rockey Mountain National Park.
This place (the YMCA Camp) specializes in reunions, so the chances are excellent that if you can think of an activity, they have a plan for it. There is child-care available, and organized activities for all ages. The Rocky Mountain National Park is right next door (3 miles) with unlimited opportunities for sightseeing and hiking at all levels.
At the Ranchouse compound there is a common kitchen, a big refrigerator and two major-chain grocery stores in Estes Park (10-minute drive). All the usual suspect restrauants, both fast-food and sit-down are represented in Estes Park, as well as a number of great local restrauants in all price categories. The YMCA has a full cafeteria and snack bar at the camp, and a wide variety of meal plans are available.
The group will have access to a 12-seat van, with daily trips to town and the grocery store and there will be other vehicles available, as well, as car rental options in Estes Park. Also, several attendees will be local, so there should be plenty of options for transportation.
Commit to joining the Friends of Dan in the Rocky Mountains as soon as you can. Just send the initial deposit of $100 before January 1, 2003. This deposit is fully refundable until May 15, 2003.
