North Coast Redux (part one)
A treat to see this lady twice in a year! Ay Ziggy Zoomba!
PS: Sorry I had to poach this photo from your FB. Never thought to record our visit... and you know, if there aren't pics, it never happened. 🤣

My generally northwards travails take me, once again, through Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
I know people.

SolSTAY, Sandusky, Ohio
This is the first HH stay of this leg. It's a cool little resort made up of docks filled with little floating house boats... hmm. There's also a floating sauna, and a platform 12-seat hot tub, which just might give you a view of Cedar Pointe right across the bay - I don't know, because I didn't climb up there. Hey! It was cold and rainy, I'm not a journalist.
North Coast Redux (part two)
Another innocent BG grad who hasn't been able to shake me in, like, four decades!

The Sandusky County Law Enforcement Canine Training Center.
Man, some of these HH sites have great surprises. This place had electric hookups, level sites, and a great Ohio farm-country view. Way down in the corner of the property, Augie and I discovered this memorial at sunset. Grave markers for 20 or so deceased Canine Officers. RIP Duke, Thor, Rasputin, and Nancy.
Maumee River Golf Academy, Waterville, Ohio
Year two in the program. Rigorous four-day scheduled beatings delivered by lost balls, wet balls, and unputtable greens... see you again soon.

🎶 I Had a Job in KalamaZOO, ZOO, ZOO, ZOO 🎶
And some good friends too. Great to see you, and to play golf (and get sun burned) with you. I'll be back soon. Yes, that's a threat. La Piñata's - you can't beat it with a stick!
(first Augie sighting)

Amazing Acres Hobby Farm, Gary, IN
Another HH, another petting zoo. Augie was frightened by chickens, but not phased at all by this dude.
Muskego Lakes Country Club
Got up at 5am to drive through the heart of Chicago. Traffic was still heavy, but it never stopped - and I avoided the tolls. Stopped at the welcome to Wisconsin rest area, closed up Graveytrain and took a nap while it rained. I timed my arrival in at this HH course in Muskego to the anticipated afternoon clearing. It was clear, but the course was absolutely swamped. Since I was spending the night, the attendant suggested playing in the morning instead. I took her advice. Next morning, the fog was thick and the course was wet, but I played 18, lost 5 balls, and had fun.

Bennetts Barn, Watertown, WI
Another short trip today - about 50 miles. One of the usual suspects that I'm planning on visiting in the Madison area, is getting over a bout of COVID, so I'm killing time until he is not contagious - when we'll play some socially distant golf. This HH stay is run by Farmer and Mrs Bennett, a stereotypical Wisconsin farm family. Insanely sweet and welcoming, they even invited me to stay in the house, as there were severe thunderstorm warnings for the night. This brought horror movie thoughts, so I thanked them, but declined. The storms came, and I had an amazing front-row seat in Gravytrain for the lightning and thunder, and the wind and rain.

Brooklyn, WI
My COVID-infected friend's son owns this magnificent estate and keeps it rented fairly steadily. As luck would have it, the place is empty until Friday afternoon. That means Augie, Gravytrain and I get to play Gypsies in the Castle for a few days...

Brooklyn, WI
Gravytrain gets tucked in between the pole barn and the pool! Luxury accommodations to be sure.
Brooklyn, WI
This place is truly ball-heaven for Augie.
Brooklyn, WI
Tucked in watching the Young Sheldon series finale. Augie cried... not me. 😭
Brooklyn, WI
My friend tested negative last night, so this morning we're practicing social distancing... on the golf course! I think we'll do the same thing tomorrow!
5/23/24
Arlington, WI
Had a great driveway over-night in Graveytrain, plus a great visit with my goddaughter and her family!
5/24/24
Sparta, WI
Harvest Host - off the beaten track. You drive way up into this valley, and the campsite is at the very top. Augie seems concerned...

Do Dad
This thing is a Chinese heated lunchbox. It heats pre-cooked food to 350.
Do Dad
It runs on 12v, so I can fill it up, close the top, and plug it in. Heats the food while I drive, and it comes up steamin' when I stop.
Skyline Raceway, Rochester, MN
HH - serves up another winner! This go-cart/putt-putt center is the type of place I would have spent a lot of time at. The track is long and challenging, and the carts are reasonably quick. Loads of room for ball throwing - Augie passed out early.

I'm An Awful Cousin and Nephew
Today, I speed dated my way through southern Minnesota. First, my Cousin in Rochester. Then, my Aunt in Dodge Center. And finally my Cousin in Faribault. It was a whirlwind day, and I didn't take a single photo. So, instead of the smiling faces of my loving family, here's another pic of me. You're welcome.

One Last Minnesota Drive-by
At least I remembered to snap a selfie with my 97 year-old Aunt in Minneapolis. She's so much fun to spend time with - I love her to pieces! Shared lunch and memories during our visit today. ❤️Can't wait to see you again Auntie!

Headed North Again
Spent the night in this quiet parking lot behind a HH about 70 miles North of the Twin Cities. It was a Brew Pub, so I went in for dinner. The waitress/bar tender was friendly, pretty, and willing to talk NFC North football, so while she attempted to make a case for a Vikings division championship, I had two beers - and was rewarded with a headache. Watta wimp!
The Meadows Golf Club, Moorville, MN
One of the nicer HH courses I've played. Bills itself as a Scottish links-style course. I don't know about all that, but there are two holes that have creeks winding through them that sort of resemble the "burns" at Carnoustie (Ima name-dropper boss!). Anyway, like Carnoustie, I lost 7 balls playing just those two holes. Thankfully, I cheat.

Medora Campground, Medora, ND
Right outside of the Teddy Roosevelt National Park, this campground right on the Little Missouri River was sure a beautiful place to be tonight!
Medora Campground, Medora, ND
Augie and I watched the sunset lead us to our last night in America - for a few days anyway.
Medora Campground, Medora, ND
It really was a beautiful place.
