On a tour of one-night stands
My suitcase and guitar in hand
Every stop is neatly planned
For a poet and best friend of Man

Port Salerno

Snuggled in between Jupiter and Port St Lucie, this is a very cool little port town...

...with a lively marina, and about a dozen bars and restaurants.

This HH is run out of the town manager's office. It's just a big grass field with room for maybe 15 RVs. It's just one block from the docks and there are many bars and restaurants - a few with live music. Amazing night. Slept with the doors all open and the screens down. Glorious sunrise... and we're headed North again.

Good Times in Disney's Shadow

Confucius said: "A journey of a million miles starts with a single step... and some drinking and partying." (Or something very similar.)

This lady and her husband are among my very best and enduring friendships. They winter near Orlando, and were gracious enough to give me the red carpet treatment for three days of eating, drinking, smoking, and laughing. Can't wait to see you guys again!

Good Times in Disney's Shadow

They have a cement pond (pond's good for me), and while the it was rather bracing (my friends seldom use the pool, so they don't heat it), it was wonderful. It's a great place.

One More Stop at the Kub

Back again for another one night stand!

One More Stop at the Kub

Great lunch and breakfast, power hookup... and a pretty good work space for updating this page.

One More Stop at the Kub

I felt an instant connection with the gang at the Pyper Kub Restaurant (HH) when I first stayed here. They seem to like me too (although I'm confident they're heavily influenced by their mutual love affair with Augie). This is my fourth stay on this trip and I certainly will be back!

Carroll's Sausage

An HH stay at this huge meat retailer In Ashburn, GA. It was a white-knuckled drive up I-75 from Williston, FL in the pouring rain packed in with the other sardines driving 75-80 to keep from being driven off the road. Karma seems to be asking the question: why are you leaving Florida?

Chattanooga KOA

Just another overnight stay, but I changed my sheets and did some laundry. It was patchy sunshine when we arrived, but the rain that we drove in all day caught up with us and it rained steady all night. We're following this storm as it moves north.

Cornith, KY

One more rainy, white-knuckled drive up I-75 to stay at the Three Springs Campsite. These guys are one exit south of the Noah's Ark reconstruction, and they provide drop off an  pick-up at the park, so Augie and I will be here two nights with a trip to the ark tomorrow.

Well, if you're gonna be stuck in the rain, I guess this the place to be. That thing is almost 1000 yards long, and more that 100 yards wide. I'm pretty sure that everyone at the park on this cool, rainy day, will fit inside with the dinosaurs.

At more than five stories tall, this thing is quite amazing - believer or not (Me? Definitely not!) - it represents an amazing architectural and construction feat nonetheless. I highly recommend a visit!

This is the view from the second deck up through the skylights on the roof. Those beams are 24 inches square! Apparently the builders wanted to use only wood-pin joinery, but those damned atheists at the State of Kentucky insisted on iron braces.

Now, as to the religious propaganda that the place promotes in its quite wonderful, and well-designed displays... Garden of Eden above complete with dinosaurs.

I did NOT know this, but if you're going to promote the theory that the world is only 4,000 years old, I guess you need to come up with something to explain all those dinosaur bones.

I was also unaware that dinosaurs fought gladiators. Russel Crowe starred both, as a gladiator, and as Noah, so I'm surprised he missed this detail in both movies. By the way, I watched the film: Noah last night in preparation - it's actually quite good (as fantasy movies go), and it provides much more viable explanations as to how this might have all gone down than those proffered in the Ark displays.

Accommodations on board were quite roomy, both in the animal suites...

...and the human accommodations as well. This is much more room than we had on our Alaska cruise - although having God as the cruise director was probably helpful in negotiating upgrades.

All in all, I really enjoyed my day at the Ark, even though very few of my fellow viewers laughed at my joke of the day: "Pssst! Let's find the mosquitos and throw them overboard." 🤣I kill me.🤣

Columbus, OH

One more rainy night, followed by a rainy drive got me home in time for my Mother and Sister's birthday week. Look for this page to start up again in late May, as Augie and I head out for Alaska!
